The Kedarnath Yatra, which is an annual pilgrimage to the Lord Shiva temple, helped the town of Kedarnath in the state of Uttarakhand become well-known. Kedarnath’s literal translation is “lord of the field.” Since ancient times, Kedarnath has been a major destination for pilgrims.

According to our research on the Kedarnath Yatra overview, one of the earliest mentions of the Kedarnath temple can be found in the Skanda Puran (c. 7th–c. 8th century), which identified Kedarnath as the site where Lord Shiva released the holy water that would later form the Ganga from his matted hair.

Kedarnath Yatra 2023 Starting And Ending Date

The sacred Hindu site of Uttarakhand will be covered by the Kedarnath Yatra, which will begin soon for the year 2023. The Uttarakhand government chooses the beginning and end dates of the Kedarnath yatra because of the extreme weather variations. The government will select the beginning and end dates for the Kedarnath Yatra in 2023, as it does every year.

The auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya, which is principally decided on the Maha Shivratri each year, determines the opening date and time of the Kedarnath temple. The closing date of Kedarnath Dham is set, which is on Bhai Dooj/ Yama Ditiya. The priest of the Omkareshwar temple in Ukimath will choose the day on which the Kedarnath temple will open this year. This year, it’s anticipated that doorways after a special aarti, the Kedarnath temple will open to the general public on April 25, 2023.

On a same theme, it is planned to close the Kedarnath shrine on Bhai Dooj (i.e., After Diwali).

Depending on the winters, snowfalls, monsoons, and other meteorological conditions, the temple’s opening and shutting dates are still between the months of April and November.

If the reports are to be believed, the Kedarnath Yatra will begin this year on April 25 and end on November 14, according to the sources.
