Together with the Chota Char Dham, the renowned town of Badrinath is one of India’s four main Char Dham pilgrimage locations. It is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River at a height of 3,300 metres (10827 ft) above sea level on average.

The Badrinath temple, which is devoted to Lord Vishnu, the preserver, gave rise to the name of this sacred town. This holy shrine’s allure draws a lot of Hindu followers since it features classic Garhwali timber construction.

Badrinath Dham, the most significant of all the Char Dhams, is both a majestic sight and situated between the two Nar and Narayan mountains. Tourists visit this sacred town of Badrinath each year to seek blessings and see Shri Badrinathji’s temple, which draws a lot of visitors.

The only temple that is a part of both Chota Char Dham and India’s Char Dham is Badrinath. One of four pilgrimage sites in four different regions of India is Badrinath. These included East Jagannathpuri, West Dwarkapuri, South Rameshwaram, and North Badrikashram (Badrinath Temple). The Bhagvat Puran explains:

Since the beginning of time, the Supreme Being (Vishnu) at Badrikashram, in his incarnation as the sages of Nar and Narayan, has undergone severe penance for the benefit of all living things.
